What Is Chronic Sinusitis?
Chronic sinusitis can be technically defined as a recurring inflammation of the sinus lining that lasts for periods of three months or longer. While it’s most commonly caused by bacterial, viral or microbial infections, it may also be a result of structural issues that lead to increased blockage in the sinus opening. When such inflammation or blockage occurs, it prevents the normal mucus drainage sinuses need to stay healthy and maintain proper function.
